Gabriel mused to himself as he wiped off the sweat that had gathered on his neck with a towel. He took his glasses, vision going blurry for a moment before he wiped the cloth on his face, soaking up the droplets of sweat from his features. The blonde took off the borrowed shirt, revealing an expanse of fair-skinned chest and well-tones abs, along with several faded scars that had been attained a time ago. He could feel eyes on him, quick glances, curious looks to the newcomer and perhaps even longing gaze, but he chose to place back his glasses, blinking at the sudden clarity. Why need he take notice of them? They could possibly take note of how quickly it was he was able to pick up the feeling of being watched and that would only threaten himself. It was all part of his training. Gabriel was raised to be a weapon, to be little more than a blank individual with a knife and nothing else to hamper his abilities to kill. His parents, or at least who he categorized them as, were Rockets. They trained him, disciplines him, taught him to kill without feeling, conditioned him to be sensitive to his surroundings and gave him basic education, which was why he was more than competent with a knife, or just about any sort of weapon given to him. his silence was taught as well. A noisy killer was dead killer. Though somewhere along the way, they had failed, or at least, their creation could not be as perfect as they had hoped. "You were pretty good, for someone who's never played." "Thank you." He could feel the disbelief in the other's tone, but did not react to it, shrugging as he looked at the court. Basketball, a sport where in the major goal was to get the ball into the metal hoop without purposely injuring another player and abiding to several other guidelines. He had merely been watching them, taking note of how quickly they moved, how they would sprint from side to side, jumping, throwing, looking to see if the trajectory of the ball was correct, when they called him to join. He was invited when another one of their companions came, late, and apparently they were at odd numbers now. He at least told them that he didn't know how to play, though was familiar with the basic rules. They waved it off. And of course, at first he didn't understand it at all. He was constantly getting laughed at how he couldn't even dribble the ball without getting stolen, and his teammates had to coach him a fair number of times. But later on the game started heating up, and they started getting serious. His first shot at the ring was too strong, and it bounced back at him, which he quickly passed to another team mate instead. His second shot bounced right off the ring and into the waiting arms of his opponents. After that he decided to stop trying to earn points and pass the ball to the more competent players of the team. They lost of course, but everyone seemed to laugh it off, recounting when Gabriel had actually slipped in game, and other than a few seemingly empty threats, they all started getting cleaned up and talked about when to meet up next. "I'll try to be better. Shall I return your shirt the next time?" He said in his calm monotonous voice, looking down at the other, who shrugged and nodded before packing up and leaving with the rest. And so it was like the beginning of the day, with him sitting underneath the shades of a tree, though perhaps a bit sweatier and tired than earlier, blinking and watching the clouds pass by with gentle breeze.[/style] |
