Cecily had been spending days and days pondering things. The number one thing on her mind had been the fact that she had been cooped up in Ecruteak for quite some months now. Both Umber and Esper were getting complexes about the outdoors, and the summer air was enough to tempt Flare out of her hiding spot. Jolt and Vapor were both just as keen to get outdoors, and Leaf had been pawing at the pot plants. She decided finally that the group of Pokemon had been kept indoors for quite long enough, especially since they had nearly had an outing days before until she had been thoroughly distressed by the news that her best friend had a boyfriend.
In all of their communications, she had never heard mention of this Nate before. She had thought perhaps Finn had felt the same way she had, and that she would someday come back to Ecruteak and they would go away together, lovers and lifelong friends. Cecily's mind had been overwhelmed with emotions that she didn't understand for the most part. She had always been drawn to Finn, but it wasn't until she had seen him and the meanie taking off her hat and not allowing her to have it that she had realised the extent of her emotions.
Sighing as she leaned against the window sill, she heard the soft whine of Umber not too far away. The eeveelution specialist breathed out softly, staring up at the sky through the window. Finn hadn't called since, and she knew she had to move on. Her best friend would have even less time for her now. Cece had always been too much of an indoorsy girl for Finn, she knew that, but she always believed their opposing natures kept them together. Finn was the only person who could tease her about her glasses, or her nerdiness without Cece getting offended.
At another whine from Umber, she looked down to her pokemon. "You want to go out, don't you? Gather the others, Umber. We'll go for a walk. Morty might be out and you can talk to him." She teased, knowing the Umbreon had been quite drawn to the gym leader when he had met him. She knew Umber was lazy and didn't like to battle, but Esper's hyperactivity made him want an escape in some way.
The other pokemon had gathered within moments around her feet after a yap from Umber, and Cece had to smile at her collection of knee-height pokemon. Flare cooed softly, followed by a soft mewl from Esper, who leapt up into Cece's arms without waiting to see if she was ready. Knocked back a little, she gathered herself up all ready to go, and slung a bag over her shoulder full of her supplies.
She might as well explore the town for a day. It wasn't like her friends would come to call. She pushed the door open and the group of pokemon shot out in front of her, causing her to laugh fondly as they spread out, Umber in the lead. Sun beat down, and she adjusted her glasses as she headed for a patch of grass. Maybe she could write whilst the pokemon played.

i think we're witnessing THE HUMBLE BEGINNINGS OF LOVE HERE, don't you agree? "And that means in the case of a broken bone-- Faith are you listening?"
Despite the scolding tone, Hope's voice rung with amusement as she watched her small Pokemon dart around in the sunlight, obviously happy to be able to play. When it came to training and studying, Faith was just as determined as her trainer was to be the two different kinds of nurse. The closer they got to home; however, the more she simply wanted to play. Perhaps she was picking up on Hope's eagerness to go home and see her sister again, and spend some real time with her. Over the months she'd been travelling with Faith at her side, she had a feeling that Cecily had stayed home with her team. Not that Hope blamed her, she had a wonderful team to stay with after all.
Jumping over a log in her path and clutching her book close to her chest, Hope couldn't resist twirling with happiness that she was even able to do so. Being constrained to a wheelchair for most of her life due to a strange illness had robbed her of the ability to do what most children had been able to - run, jump, play. She'd been forced to remain at home, and watch as others had run about. Perhaps that had been what encouraged her shy nature with people, having only ever been around Finn and Cecily most of her life. She did love her sister though, and she made a point of coming back every now and then to make sure she got some sunshine.
It was pure luck that had her finding Cecily just as she stepped outside the door and headed for a patch of grass in the sunshine. "Cecily!" She called, while Faith danced ahead to go and greet all the Eeveelutions that were her sister's team. Bouncing to sit next to her sister with a slight skid to her knees, Hope threw her arms around her sister after dropping the book to the ground lightly. "I missed you so~ much! Are you working on something new? Can I see? Can I see?" It was only Cecily, and sometimes Finn that ever saw the bouncy, childish side of Hope. Most of the time, she was shy, disliked talking too much.. But Cecily was her sister.

She loved them more than anything else. Each of the sweet little eeveelutions that she had spent so much time researching were part of her family, the circle she loved more than life itself. Her main friends had long since grown up and moved out of the city she called home, and Ecruteak had since continued to thrive even after the shambles of a few years prior. She had seen Crystal come and go a few times, she had seen Euisine search once more for the beautiful water pokemon that she too had watched in wonderment. She had watched Morty grow as a gym leader and a person, a friend she was glad to have.
And yet Cecily had never left. Her heart had always been in their family home. She had never bothered with travelling the world and training each of her pokemon up to defeat all the gym leaders. Sure, occassionally she went on trips in which she did some soul-searching and research, but she would always come right back home to her comfortable bed. She watched the group of Eeveelutions dance around her ankles as she walked through the mostly quiet town. That was another thing Cece liked about Ecruteak, there was never the hustle and bustle of places like Heartholme or Saffron. She liked her little peaceful place quite enough, thank you very much.
She sat and looked around, her bottle green gaze locking on a familiar brunette hopping and skipping around over fallen logs and trees. She had no doubt that her sister would join her so soon, and she reclined lazily in the sun as she felt arms thrown around her. Cecily might have been thinking about Finn and the love she had lost in her best friend, but that didn't mean that she was unhappy to see her sweet, warm-hearted relative. Cece cuddled Hope with fervor, giving her a quick squeeze before releasing her. "Hope. I didn't expect you home for another few months yet. Just stopping by on your way through?" She giggled, although the sound didn't reach her sad eyes.
Cece continued to think on her loss even as her sister spoke, and pulled out the notepad she always kept with her. Esper made a cooing noise and sidled herself up in Hope's lap as Cece watched, and Umber made his way into his trainer's, sensing her disheartenment. "I've been writing a piece on the possibility of other evolutions Eevee may learn. There are so many types of Pokemon, it would make sense that somewhere, somehow, there may be ways for steel types, rock types or even flying types to come from their original form. It's all theoretical of course, I'd just love to see if my theories are correct." She handed the notepad to her sister if she wanted to read, "If you come back to the house in a while, I've even got some sketch concept ideas that they may have taken. The steel one I don't think works, but you never know." Cecily even chuckled a little at her own comment, trying to keep positive.
The last thing she wanted was for her dear, sweet sister to feel as if she was sad. She didn't want Hope to know anything was wrong, after all, that would just cause friction between the younger of the pair and Finn. It was bad enough that Cecily hadn't spoken to her since. "How goes nurse training?"

i think we're witnessing THE HUMBLE BEGINNINGS OF LOVE HERE, don't you agree? Hope loved travelling, she loved the sense of having new things to learn and experience. The knowledge that she could simply wake up and go without any fuss or worry. Yet, as Cecily's arms curled around her, Hope realised just how much she missed that sense of "home". How much she missed having the same view outside her window, or how much she missed looking in the corner and seeing a bookshelf piled with all her favourites. Or even having Cecily there, every morning, to hug, to laugh with, to tease. She missed her sister constantly, and it was really only when she returned that she remembered how much. For a long moment, Hope didn't want to let go, and held Cecily close as she buried her face in her shoulder as though to try and commit her to memory for a bit longer.
"I missed you, I wanted to come home." She mumbled after a moment, drawing back and smiling slightly despite the thoughts that had just been going through her head. Yes, she'd missed Cecily, but the news about Finn and her boyfriend had also prompted Hope to return home to visit her loving sister. She'd known about the crush, how could she not know a little bit at the very least? The idea that Cecily was upset had in turn made her uncomfortable, and so here she was, back at home.
Crooning at Esper as she came over to her lap, Hope's fingers lightly ran over the Espeon's body automatically to check her health even though she knew that her sister would always take wonderful care of her team. It was almost instinct now, to run that appraising eye over them even as she cuddled the Eeveelution against her. "Hello, Esper. I missed you too~." She giggled, the giggle becoming a laugh as Faith skipped over to Cecily and looked up at her worriedly. She was fairly sure the Happiny couldn't sense anything from her sister, but she attempted to join Umber on her lap to attempt to cheer her up.
"Oooh, really? Do you think they do?" Hope asked excitedly, eagerly taking the offered notepad and letting her eyes trail down the page, drinking in the words there. She'd always loved Cece's research, and she nodded eagerly at the idea of seeing more of it. "I'd really like to, it makes sense, doesn't it? That they could, I mean if they react to their surroundings? Like Vaporeon and Leafeon... Oh it's brilliant!" Easily distracted from thinking to ask how her sister was holding up, Hope's eyes lit up as she smoothed her hand over Esper's coat, "I learn so much every day, Faith and me... We're going to learn everything we can, and make the world better... One hurt Pokemon at a time."

Cecily's place could always count as a home for Hope. Always. She loved and adored her little sister almost like a daughter - except not perhaps in the same way. They had never really had the hatred that some siblings had - their shared introvertedness kept conflicts from bouncing up out of the blue. Hope was slightly more extroverted than what her older sister was when at home - her stutter and shyness vanished around their family - but they were equally as quiet when around other people than Finn and the other close friends they'd accumulated from playdates forced upon them. She snuggled her little sister closely, glad to have her back. The hug lasted both an eternity and a split second, and then they were apart, still close by.
It was nice to feel so connected with someone. Reaching out to touch her sister's hand affectionately, Cece noded and smiled. "You're home now, Hope, that's the main thing. And home will always be here waiting, that's the best part about it." Cecily managed an honest smile, despite the mild depression that had set in whilst hearing about Finn and Nate. She had always hoped that Hope would not have figured out how deeply she had cared for the magician, and that the crush would remain secret now that everything had moved on in a different direction. Either way, it had brought Hope home if for a little while, and Cece would never complain over a visist. "Honestly Esper, you'd think she was your long lost mother."
She teased the Espeon who snuggled into Hope, not concerned over being checked over - lifting her paws when prompted and showing her teeth when needed. She was a very affectionate with Hope - a trait that not many other trainers got to experience. The cat-like eeveelution curled up in a bright purple ball in Hope's lap, forked tail flicking as she was snuggled. As Esper cuddled Hope, Cecily picked up the worried-looking Happiny and pressing her nose against Faith's. The little healing pokemon was adorable, she couldn't say anything else about it.
The excitement over her theory left Cecily flushed in the face. Hope was really the only person who encourage her theories. Most other people were rather bored by her spiels of talking or writings. There were only a few people who read her papers, and most of them were professors. Perhaps that was something she ought to think about - getting into the field of professors. She could most definitely work with someone like Professor Oak or Professor Juniper. Their investigations into the growth and development of pokemon was always intriguing.
Smiling, she nodded. "I think it's entirely possible. I really hope I'm right too. After I discovered Leafeon and Glaceon's method of evolution, it gave me a real thought as to how many different types there could be." She smiled happily, and nodded. Hope's dream was just as amazing, when she thought about it. One sibling a researcher, the other a doctor. Their parents had certainly raised their children to be something.
"I'm so glad you're learnign things. Then again, I always knew you would." She reached out and touched her sister's arm once again. "I'm so very proud of you, Hope. You're doing great things and you're already so you. It makes me wish I'd done more with my youth than writing silly papers."
And this was keeping her off track about talking over her feelings about the Finn issue.

If there was anything Hope regretted about her training, it was simply that it took her away from her sister and her home. Fifteen years of her life had been spent in the one place, confined and unable to travel like others because of her illness. Then just like that it was gone, and she'd been able to go outside again. Perhaps Hope wasn't naturally shy, but the years of being with only her sister for an influence had cultured that natural quiet into a kind of terrified shyness -- something that never lasted the moment she was in the protection of her big sister's shadow. After all, most siblings had some sort of admiration for their older siblings. Some pairs had rivalry, some didn't.. Hope was honestly glad she and Cecily didn't share the same need to fight that others did. She wasn't sure she could live with a high-tension relationship with her sister.
"Good!" A small grin lit up Hope's features as she petted the Espeon lovingly before looking back up at her sister, "I would hate to come home sometime, and find you'd moved." She grinned again, faking a pout before looking down at the bundle of purple fur on her lap. She'd always wondered at Cece's amazing ability with all manner of Eevee's, though she vaguely remembered when Esper had been a little Eevee herself. She definitely remembered Cece's more recent additions to her team being little brown fluff-balls, though she'd never been as attracted to them as Cecily was, she was happy with the Pokemon who would be her partner through training and beyond. Happy now she was being held, the Happiny squirmed closer to kiss Cecily again, only to be content to be held in her lap after a moment while Hope watched Esper with a warm, soft smile. She would never be completely used to Esper's affection but.. While she had it...
"Of course there are lots! People just have to find them. Maybe they're just getting better at hiding." Hope chirped, her faith in her sister obvious as she leaned back slightly, her hands resting on the grass. Being confined as she had been had meant Hope had loved reading, and her sister's writing somehow made reports interesting and intruiging, conversational and yet proffessional. It had always made Hope want to know more, and she remembered pestering Cece for hours on one of her papers, asking more and more questions everytime her sister stopped talking. She couldn't remember if it had never annoyed the blonde though, and Hope grinned. "So, so much! I love to learn, I never realised how much." Everything was fascinating to her, everything she learnt, every berry or treatment.
"They aren't silly!" Hope scolded hotly, her eyes snapping back to her sister and frowning. "I wish I'd done more than sit around and avoid people, but we have to do what we're good at. I love your papers, and one day you're going to be famous for them!"
