This place is super drab!" Dakota's blue eyes scanned the scenery with a look of boredom. She and her two Pokemon had been traveling for a few months now, but she'd never been anywhere like this. The Pokeregions were usually beautiful, Hoenn especially so what the hell was up with Sootopolis?! The grass was coated in a thin layer of soot, which she had to admit was true to the town's name... but still did people actually live in this ugly place? Somehow Riley and Reggie, her Cyndaquil and Totodile, hadn't notice and they played happily behind her causing ash to spill into the air. "Lookit! You guys are making clouds!!" She laughed as the ash drifted away, "and look! You guys are cleaning the grass too!" The grass certainly didn't look healthy but seeing a little bit of green certainly made this town a bit less dull!
And speaking of clouds....? Dakota turned watching another ashy cloud drift into the air. Was someone else here!? Of course Dakota was never one to say no to friends, but why was this person being so shy? It wasn't like she was going to bite, though Reggie might. She grinned at the thought of making another friend, and if she went over to say hello maybe she could clear off some of the grass too! How helpful! Dakota bounded into the taller grass spinning, dancing, and kicking at the grass to try to clear it. "Cynd!!" Riley called loudly and Reggie's call came immediately after, they'd lost her in the sudden darkening. Dakota laughed loudly closing her eyes, this was fun!! She hadn't had this much fun in... well at least in a few hours! As the green haired girl spun she gone off course by accident and had she opened her eyes she might have realized that she too was lost in the growing cloud of ash.
"Spii!" Dakota's eyes snapped open. The expression on her face was very obviously confused, that definitely wasn't Reggie or Riley and it didn't sound like a person's voice either. She looked around worriedly, but visibility on the route was so bad that she could hardly see her hand in front of her face. "Hello?" The voice came again, but this time she realized it was below her causing the girl to jump. When she'd looked for the speaker she hadn't looked down, but sure enough there on the ground was a dizzy looking spotted Pokemon. "Ooooh! Hiya! Sorry if I knocked you over thingy!" She laughed picking the Pokemon up under its arms and setting it upright, it looked up at her happily but quickly flopped forward again. "Uh.... You ok buddy?! Did I give you brain damage or did you just forget how to stand up?" She nudged it softly it made a happy noise, it didn't seem to be in pain. How strange... Reggie and Riley bounded up behind her and gave the Pokemon a curious look. Dakota giggled, "I think I made a new friend guys!!" She righted the Pokemon again watching it make a crooked path through the grass. "Lets follow it!!" [/style] |

Then again, it was Hoenn, which was a rather strange region in itself. To be blunt, he couldn’t stand the region – everything about the place was different. Even the people; while it wouldn’t be fair to judge the population based on the string of random joes that had come his way, each one had been similar enough for him to make a collected observation. They were all loud. Loud people, filled to the brim with energy that went beyond his tastes. It was from this that made him think that perhaps everyone got high off the sun constantly beating down on them.
Liam mulled over all of this in his head while he stood under the shade of a nearby tree, staring out into the clear pool of water situated in the center of the city. It had been an arduous journey to arrive in Sootopolis, but all the trouble was worth it if the rumors of a certain person showing up would prove to be true.
He still had time to kill. How to spend it, though, was the question. Digging into his pocket, he withdrew a small chocolate bar and stared at it for a brief second. Chocolate for lunch… hmm. His pokemon ate better than he did. The last time he had had a proper meal was… well, he couldn’t even remember. He quickly peeled away at the wrapper, already salivating as the strong smell of cocoa wafted into his nose. THat, and the smell of volcanic ash.
He coughed as he inhaled the soot, his arm coming up to his face so as to shield it away from his eyes. Where the hell had all of the smoke risen up from? Squinting, he turned to look out towards a form in the distance kicking away and seemingly dancing amongst the grass. It sounded like a young girl, he could hear her laughter ringing even from a distance, and in addition several other pokemon’s voices. However, with such an obnoxious public display, whoever it was must not have realized that they were accumulating a heavy amount of soot in the air that was being blown in his direction by the wind. And by the looks of things, they apparently weren’t planning on stopping anytime soon.
He pocketed his piece of candy, his mood quickly shifting into annoyance. Yes, he could be an extreme kill joy at times, but when it came to interrupting his food time there were just simply no excuses. The closer he got, though, the more difficult it became to see, but he was able to pick up the high-pitched voices and was keen on following them until he could make out the back of a girl’s head.
She’s not getting away, Liam thought as he picked up her mentioning about following after something. He reached his hand out to grab her wrist, preparing to lecture her before she went off wanderingg. “Excuse me. All of your playing around is creating quite an amount of…”
It was there that it hit him like a Wake-Up Slap to the face.
Dropping his arm suddenly away from her, he blinked several times as her face came more and more into recognition. No way. It was her. It couldn’t be… but, oh. It was.
His eyes widened and his mouth went agape.
“D-Dakota?” He heard himself stutter as he said her name, feeling the sudden rise in his heart rate at the surprise of her being here. A meeting in such a shit-hole of all places was one of the last things he would have expected; then again, he always seemed to run into the green-haired girl at the strangest times. Peering down, he spotted her two pokemon, Reggie and Riley, and remembered teh first meeting he had had with them – it was at that time when he had told her he would help train the little buggers.
And then he turned back to face her, staring at her intently.
She was real alright.
He cleared his throat once. “You… what the hell are you doing? And what the hell are you doing here?”

Dakota's legs were beginning to feel wobbly from running so hard and that wasn't even the worst of her current problems! She'd completely lost her new friend, the Spinda, as well as her own Pokemon. Where the hell had they gotten off to? She searched her surroundings, but her vision was clouded by the ash. Ok, so maybe kicking up all of this soot hadn't been such a good idea after all... Dakota had to admit that she was beginning to become a bit nervous, normally her Pokemon stayed close enough that she could at least hear them. "Reggieeeee!! Rileeeeey!?" And then she spotted it! The flame on Riley's back shimmered weakly through the polluted air, Dakota laughed and kicked her way toward the light. Boy was she ever lucky! After a moment she'd caught up to the three small Pokemon who were snuggled together with the Spinda, who she was certain had fallen, in the center of them. "I thought I lost you guys for good! Were you trying to play hide 'n seek Spii?" Dakota laughed and patted the Spinda on the head, she didn't know what the species was called so she'd just started calling it by the noise it made.
Her laughter was cut short when she realized that her two little Pokemon were glaring at something behind her. "What gu--" A hand clamped around her wrist, Dakota's free hand tightened into a fist and she spun to face the person holding her. She'd been fully prepared to fight, but her eyes widened when she realized who it was. Lee! And then the speech came. Tsk, he was always lecturing her about something, but she couldn't be too upset, right? At least now she had company. She grinned when he realized who he was speaking to. "Duh L-Lee!" Dakota laughed, "who were you expecting to find!?" He had been excited when she had mentioned that she knew Noxie and Zorua-chan maybe he thought that she was one of them? He'd have to be blind if he thought she was like those girls though! Zorua and Noxie were both beautiful and talented, and as far as Dakota was concerned she wasn't really either of those things. At least, not enough of either to get famous for.
What was she doing here? That was much more like the Lee she remembered, maybe the last time when he'd been nice had been a dream. And just when she thought they could actually be friends too... Dakota scowled at the older boy and crossed her arms over her chest. "I am exploring! 'Cept this place is pretty ugly huh?!" She giggled, "and for your information Mr. Frown Lines we were making clouds!" Of course she knew they weren't real clouds, but they were the closest she'd ever get to making weather. "And what the "hell" are you doing here?" She made quotations in the air as she repeated him trying her hardest to match his tone, but with no luck. Instead the girl burst into another fit of giggles and grinned up at him. She had to admit she was happy to run into a friend in a place like this even if he wasn't in a very good mood.
And speaking of friends... "Oh! Oh! Leeee! Look!" She pointed down at the Spinda that was still sprawled out in the sooty grass. "This is my new friend Spii! Isn't he cute?!" Dakota picked the Pokemon up by his underarms and spun him around and around. Whatever this thing was she definitely wanted to add it to her team, but she'd have to come back for Spii another day because she'd completely run out of Pokeballs trying to capture an especially difficult Pidgey. Dakota set the Pokemon back on the ground and it immediately collapsed onto its back starring up at her. "Oops sorry Spii are you dizzy now?!" She giggled. The Pokemon nodded weakly, he'd been dizzy enough before being spun. "What do you think Lee?! I bet he'd become really really strong right?" As far as Dakota was concerned Liam was the authority on everything that had to do with Pokemon. But even if he said it was weak she'd be back for Spii, he was just too damn cute to leave in this ugly place. [/style] |

She had recognized him easily enough, and then out of her mouth came that stupid little nickname she had adopted for him. For some unexplainable reason, seeing a familiar face that belonged to hers brought him a feeling of relief. “Not you, of all people.” In truth, he hadn’t really been expecting to find anyone, because either way, whomever he discovered was kicking up the dirt was going to be told off. And Liam realized that the relief he had felt earlier was probably due to the fact that it was Dakota and not a random girl. Dakota wasn’t the very sensitive type, so he had no worries that she wouold start crying if he lectured her.
Her response to his questioning made him smirk. It was so easy to get a reaction out of her, and despite the fact that she was annoying, he had to admit to himself that she was at least entertaining. To say that the place was pretty ugly was an understatement, but he nodded in agreement, the expression on his face completely blank. “Yes. I suppose that's why it's fitting for you, though.”
Then a scowl unfurled on his lips when she explained what she had been doing. She was such an idiot – and – wait. What did she just call him? Mr. Frown Lines? That was so… so… cute childish. He began brushing off specks of dirt off his arms, glad for something to keep him occupied. “What’s up with you and these stupid nicknames,” he muttered under his breath, cheeks glowing red.
He cleared his throat after a moment. “I’m here because supposedly, someone famous is coming into town.” He ignored her terrible impression of him by pretending to look down at the watch on his wrist. It was almost time for the concert. He also couldn’t help but notice that she laughed. So much. All that dust must have gotten into her head or soething. But… then…. looking down at her, and seeing the wide grin on her face, something in his chest began… to thump a little faster...
What… is… this?
Then Dakota was pointing out something to him, and silently, he thanked Arceus for the distraction.
He raised a brow curiously at the thing sprawled out on the ground. Even though he prided himself in being a good trainer, he had not a damn clue what the unknown Hoenn creature was. Dakota had called it Spii, but he couldn’t be sure if that was just another one of her nicknames. Whatever it was, though, looked especially stupid to him with those dizzy-set eyes and its total aloofness.
He stared at the girl as she begun spinning the helpless little pokemon around, feeling sort of sorry for it, but finding its aloof nature amusing as it collapsed on its back. At her question, Liam shrugged one shoulder sheepishly. “I… don’t know.” He admitted, scratching his head in confusion as he stared at the pokemon. “Way to make the poor thing sick with your idea of fun, though.”
He glanced down at his wrist for a second before looking up, taking note of the time ticking away. It was to be supposed that soon, the supposed guest would supposedly be arriving, “You’d better leave it here where it’s safe. We’ve… gotta get going. Now.”
