Weeks previously the flying type gym leaders had arranged a meeting between all three. Of course, there was always the problem of time on a leader's schedule, but finally a time could be arranged when the actual party meeting could take place. Falkner had gathered up his team and headed on a journey further than he'd been in quite some time. Unova had always interested him, the sights were beautiful and it had always been painted as a very interesting region. The gyms were strong, the people were busy and there was a certain leader that was exceptionally pretty who he somehow managed to win a date with.
Later, he thought, later they'd go on their date. As his bird pokemon flew through the air, he felt the familiar thrill of being in the sky, and straightened his back to sit up, the wind around him whipping his hair around. He touched his belt, releasing all of his other birds to let them fly with him. Everyone doubted the strength of a flying type, but Falkner loved them. He loved the way they looked with their wings outstretched, and the way they moved. He couldn't help but grin surrounded by his beloved team, and they dove and soared as the Mistralton airport appeared in the not-too-far horizon. The lamps of the runway made him smile.
That was Skyla's home.
Glancing around the skies for sight of Winona but guessing she had probably already reached the gym, Falkner turned his pokemon toward the ground, sad to be leaving his flight but grinning from ear to ear. He and the other flying gym leaders had formed a rather steadfast friendship. Winona had become quite the good friend to him, and Skyla might very soon be more than a friend. Either way, it was nice to fly downwards and look forward to company that didn't want to murder you at any moment. Pidge and Toe began the nosedive toward the ground, knowing that their trainer liked the rush of adrenaline it sent chilling through him, and he gripped the feathers of his Pidgeot tightly as his wings flew back out so close to the ground, stopping their fall and catching a breeze to land them safely.
Before they had even properly landed, the flying leader of Violet city leapt from his pokemon's back, returning all but the pidgeot to their pokeballs. Pidge deserved a rest and a chance to stretch at the same time. Stroking his crest, Falkner glanced around, wondering if he should approach the gym or stay put. With a nod at Pidge, letting him know he could fly where he wanted for a bit, Falkner straightened his clothes and headed towards the gym's door, knocking loudly. He was not a challenger after all, just a visitor.

One day, Winona told herself, Skyla would be on time.
It was the result of the over-practical mind that made one consistently early. Leaving her city at all had been a task and a half for Winona, considering she'd some how thought of a million and one things to do inside the city and gym that just had to be done before she left the city that day. Even as she'd flown, Altaria's fluffy wings cutting through the air at high speeds, Winona had found herself worrying that she was somehow neglecting her duties. If something happened, she was sure someone would call and get her back. It was just... Well, it was really just that Winona hadn't had a reason to leave the city in a long enough time that being away made her slightly anxious. It was that, and how long had it been that she'd gone to meet friends - not out of any desire to discuss gym-leader things. Just to meet and talk.
Once she'd arrived, Winona had taken the time to look around her curiously, taking in the large space and the differences between Skyla's home and her own. Perhaps there would always be a sense of old tradition in the way Winona worked, Skyla.. Skyla was like a sharp reminder that the world would always keep moving towards new things. Not that it was a bad thing, it was simply that... Well, there was nothing really to add there. Smiling as she reached up her hands to rest them against Altaria's neck, the young woman glanced again at her watch. Alright, so five minutes wasn't exactly late and Falkner hadn't arrived yet either. A sound from around the corner caused her to frown slightly, curiousity warring with caution as she stepped back around to spot the source of the noise, only to smile slightly as she recognised Falkner.
"Skyla's late." It was the only thing that Winona could think of to even open a conversation, standing a comfortable distance from the other gym leader and crossing her arms slightly. Within her gym, she could be the cool and confident flying-specialist, out here, approaching Falkner as a friend, she suddenly found herself worrying, worrying if she should have just returned home and left Falkner and Skyla to themselves. Drawing in a deep breath, Winona sought the constant well of calm that she seemed to have, drawing on it to settle her anxiety about her home being so far away. "Have you given Skyla the flowers yet?"
