Home.
When everything was falling apart at the seams, there was only one place Azumi could even think of going back to, and that was Cianwood. Small and placed next to the ocean as it was, it wasn't that which brought her down to the beach. It was the fact that when she'd been a child, she'd buried her toes in the sand and laughed as she chased Rikki up and down the beach. Rikki had just been a Pikachu the last time she'd come home, but now the Raichu looked up at her trainer's sad face with a kind of helplessness. Normally so confident and bright, Azumi's sudden shock when it came to her personality hadn't helped the already stressed girl at all. First Toya's kidnapping, then the problems with Ruby, and then on top of it all, confessing to Quil. Yep, she was breaking apart at the seams.
Digging her toes deeper into the cool sand, Azumi's gold eyes stared absently out at the rolling waves. The white crest as it broke upon the sand, trailing up onto the beach to lightly brush against her toes before falling back to be sucked back out to sea. Wrapping her arms tightly about her knees as she sat, Azumi's eye briefly flickered to the worried Pokemon by her side and bit down on her lip. "Where'd I go wrong, Rikki?" All she'd ever wanted was to be a good coordinator, to follow in her parents footsteps to make her father proud. She'd been polite and ladylike, she'd been confident and cheerful... So where had she gone wrong on everything to have it bite her back so hard.
"Rikki... What do you think they've done to Toya... Do you think he's okay? THink he misses me? I want him back so badly." She mumbled, the words barely audible as the Raichu clambered up into her trainers lap to curl against the girl's chest. Listlessly, Azumi continued gazing out over the waves. She no longer cared if she got burnt sitting out there for as long as she had been, or if anyone came looking for her. Not that her parents even knew she'd come back home. How did you tell your parents that you'd failed at everything you'd ever wanted? She'd failed at coordinating by losing hope, and failed as a trainer by losing Toya.
"Maybe if I just close my eyes, it'll all be a dream." Rikki didn't make a sound as she rested her head under Azumi's chin, gazing up at the tears that slid silently down her cheeks before she reached up with one paw to wipe at them gently. She didn't know what to do to help her trainer, all she knew was that Azumi was hurting and she, Rikki, could do nothing. Azumi's arms tightened about her Pokemon, drawing her closer to her body as she lifted her other hand to attempt to brush the tears off her cheeks.
