It had been an interesting few days for the investigator, that was for sure. The stalker-for-hire had been having quite the fun with the twins he had been told to stalk, and that was exactly what he was having now. When he had been assigned a pair of bounty hunters as his very own target, Jeremy had been a little concered. Bounty hunters generally had a pretty good idea of what was going on in their world, but the twins - although determined- seemed to still know very little about the rebel leader.
He had gotten to them in plenty of time, according to Lirael, who kept him updated on where not to go, and had completely thrown them off Elijah's trail. The rebel boss had been and long gone in the places that had searched, and his porygon happily provided fake credit trails in order to keep up his appearances. Jeremy had won their trust fairly fast - they had no reason to doubt him from the very beginning. That was one of the things he liked about his job, not having to expose yourself to steal pokemon and run back to base in order to give them up and go out to do it all again. Jeremy got to spend his time wandering Pokearth, and almost making friends.
He had found himself oddly at peace with the twins, something that he had not expected. Dante's nature and protectiveness over his sister was amusing, and Rin's individuality had him drawn to her like a moth to a flame. But that being said, after that one very brief kiss, he knew he had to stop himself getting involved with one of his targets. It was stalker rule number one - never let them get to you. But she had. They both had. He was able to tease and laugh with them. To grin over Rin with Dante, and to laugh as they fought incessantly over food. There was nothing that could be done though, he had to make sure not to get attached. Sooner rather than later, Eli, Damion or Lirael would call for their demise, and he would have to watch, and be resented for all of eternity.
He trailed behind the twins as they made their way through the town, searching for the rebel leader that would not be there. A hand slipped into his silver-white hair and he made it stand on air with a quick run through, before letting out a small sigh. Jeremy didn't know what to do about anything any more. He knew that he had to do what he was hired for, had to do the thing that brought the money in every week. But that didn't mean he had to like it. Looking up, he felt his own stomach grumble. Rin and Dante were constantly eating, and he had found his stash of sweets quite empty quite quickly after being with them. They were more manageable when placated with dinner. "Oi, you two. I'm up for lunch." He called out to the pair walking a few steps ahead, jogging up to catch them. He pulled his jacket off and stuffed it into his satchel, rolling the sleeves of his shirt up and grinning more.
"There's a lunch buffet not too far from here. Do you think we could detour to there? I don't want to starve to death."
They had to wait for the ferry anyways, if the wanted to get to the location he'd lied to them about. He knew he shouldn't, that he should fess up and turn himself in, but that was not Jeremy, no sir, Jeremy would stick out a mission no matter what the end consequences might be,
TAGGED Dante and Rin WORDS 621 NOTES Sorry, it's all I could think of.
