The young woman was eager to participate and learn as much as she could about Pokemon, so her parents gave her both of the water types, knowing how much she loved the ocean. Zuli became her rock, and she loved watching the Lapras make it's way through the water and loved when they learned to Surf with one another. Zuli's Ice Beam however was one of the reasons she got into coordinating, when the pokemon carved an almost sculpture using it. The beauty intrigued Deme, and she was eager to try out more acts similar. Zuli loves her trainer, and when they're together is often nuzzled into her neck, crooning gently.

Chite was the battler of her duo, always wanting to do his best. The Mantine learning to love his moves. When she needed his company up somewhere high, she often had it, much to her delight. Deme came to rely on Malachite through lots of tough situations. He too however learned lots of moves suitable for contests, and decided to help out on that front too because he saw how much it meant to her.
