When he picked Zuzu, however, he didn't realize how strange-looking Mudkips were. But he'd picked him so he didn't have a choice anymore. Through various adventures, though, Ruby was able to see the positive in Zuzu and appreciate the pokemon for everything that he is. Zuzu has grown up nicely, slowly becoming the powerhouse of Ruby's team. He competes for the Strength portion of the coordinator contests and he hopes that Zuzu will be the poster child for tough pokemon in the future. Zuzu is very loyal to Ruby but also a little goofy. Before involving into a Swampert, he was much better at goofing around and being aloof. However, he's able to come to Ruby's side whenever there's trouble because of the fins on top of his head.

POPO NAME: popo SPECIES: castform GENDER: female EGG GROUP: fairy and amorphous MOVES: sunny day shadow ball hail weather ball THE POKEMON: Originally belonging to president of Devon Corporation, Popo got stuck in a fountain which Sapphire rescued her from. She was then dropped off with Maryann and Ty who gave Popo to Ruby who didn't question the origin of the gorgeous Castform. She's good at Smart contests and likes competing. She gets lonely easily so he has her out more often than some of his other pokemon. She's eager to please Ruby and often does things that are beyond her physical capability, in an attempt to please her trainer. She's also very obedient.

NANA NAME: nana SPECIES: mightyena GENDER: female EGG GROUP: field MOVES: howl leer odor sleuth take down roar hyper beam THE POKEMON: Nana was given to Ruby by his father who was set on his son becoming a world-reknown trainer, even if Ruby had his heart set on coordinating in contests. Norman, hoping his son would set out on a pokemon journey, gave him the Poochyena who took a liking to him almost immediately. She's spunky and dedicated to Ruby. She competes for the Coolness section of the contests and it's obvious why. Ruby keeps Nana's coat in pristine condition and she's always nomming on pokeblocks to up her condition. She's very sleek and confident, making moves that she knows will hit, if only because she just knows how amazing she is.

COCO NAME: coco SPECIES: delcatty GENDER: female EGG GROUP: field and fairy MOVES: assist attract growl iron tail safeguard double-edge THE POKEMON: Ruby was given Coco along with Nana and Ruru to jumpstart his training career. Coco was much more influential in helping Ruby make his decision to become a coordinator. She's adorable and she wasn't the best at attacking when Ruby was younger and trying to use her in battles. She just good at being adorable, which made Ruby start appreciating beauty and how he could bring a grown man to his knees, in admiration of his adorable Skitty. When she evolved, Ruby thought that there was absolutely no way not to use her cuteness in contests. As a Delcatty, she'd proven to be good at being adorable, good at using strategy to win contests, and staying by Ruby's side.

MIMI NAME: mimi SPECIES: milotic GENDER: female EGG GROUP: water 1 and dragon MOVES: ice beam light screen water pulse blizzard mirror coat THE POKEMON: When she was a Feebas, Ruby thought Mimi was an ugly pokemon. He treated her very poorly because he didn't actual believe that she was pretty enough for his team. When he lost her though, after yelling at her about not being perfect, with the help of Wallace, he realized how terrible of a person he'd been. So, when Mimi returned to his side, he preached her inner beauty, regardless of her outside. He believed in her beauty and that's how she evolved into a gorgeous Milotic. Ruby often praises her as being the most beautiful on his team, though he tries not to say it in front of his other pokemon. He just knows that he loves Mimi and he would do anything for her, especially so that he doesn't lose her again.

RURU NAME: ruru SPECIES: kirlia GENDER: female EGG GROUP: amorphous MOVES: confusion hypnosis imprison double team THE POKEMON: Ruru was given to Ruby by his father, along with two of his other pokemon. She was originally supposed to be used for Smart Contests, but Ruby lent her to Wally, who trained her into evolving into a Kirlia. When Ruby got her back, he found out that she'd become much more perceptive on non-verbal cues. She was also very good at giving affection whenever Ruby was feeling down. She's very motherly for his team after feeling protective over Wally for so long. She's very sweet and likes to dance. She often helps with the appeal training of Popo, making sure that the Castform's moves are perfect.
