Of course, Sam was the first to encounter the man, and accepted his first potential Pokemon. Eventually, the egg hatched into a Scyther. Ripper sees Sam as an older brother. For years, the two of them have been side by side, training one another. Due to having been in the care of Sam while an egg, he has inherited certain personality traits, namely his love for battle and ruthlessness. It has an adamant nature.

Trapper NAME: Trapper SPECIES: Foretress GENDER: Female EGG GROUP: Bug Group MOVES: Toxic Spikes (level up) Protect (level up) Spikes (level up) Stealth Rock (breeding) Rapid Spin (level up) Gyro Ball (level up) Iron Defense (level up) THE POKEMON: While Ripper was the first Pokemon that Sam obtained, Trapper was the first Sam had actually captured. During a session of training at the age of 11, Ripper had rammed into a tree while distracted, causing the Pineco to fall out of the tree. After a short battle, Sam had captured the Pokemon. Immediately, he started to train the Pokemon, and eventually evolved her into a Foretress. Unlike Sam or Ripper, Trapper is a more easy-going individual. Of the group, it is the most patient. While it does care about its comrades, it is prone to concern and annoyance for their aggressive ways. However, it does get along with Vulcan quite well. It has a Relaxed Nature.

Vulcan NAME: Vulcan SPECIES: Volcarona GENDER: Male EGG GROUP: Bug Group MOVES: Silver Wind (level up) String Shot (level up) Fire Spin (level up) Whirlwind (level up) Morning Sun (breeding) Sunny Day (TM) Fire Blast (TM) Solar Beam (TM) THE POKEMON: As a Larvesta, Vulcan was hatched from an egg by another trainer. However, they could not raise the Pokemon for an undefined reason. So they made sure the young Larvesta got a good home. During Sam's short journey through the Unova Region, at the age of fourteen, Sam came across this trainer. After seeing Ripper in action, the trainer offered him the Larvesta, which Sam accepted. The Pokemon had inherited traits of its former trainer. It is the gentle and caring member of the group. And while it is a powerhouse of the team, it doesn't flaunt its power. Of all the Pokemon, he seems to get along with Trapper the best. Vulcan has a Modest Nature.
