It contained a Drifloon. She named it Volez (pronounced VOLE-AY). Volez was always prancing around happily, succeeding in bringing Fantina out of her depressed moods. As a result, Volez became very protective of Fantina and doesn't enjoy anything messing with her. Their bond was truly brought to fruition through a bully knocking Fantina down. Volez swelled up and used her gust to blow the bully away. Fantina trusts her implicitly. She will even get over her fear of heights and use Volez for transportation, simply because Volez would never let her down. Metaphorically, or otherwise.

THE POKEMON:
In her youth, Fantina met CoCo as a misdreavus. CoCo was sullenly wandering the streets of Hearthome. They bonded over their similarities and became fast friends. During their time together, CoCo quickly became jealous of Volez because it was fully evolved, so she left Fantina for three days so it could find a dusk stone and evolve. This showed Fantina how tenacious and hard-working her Mismagius truly is. Albeit, a little jealous. CoCo also has problems with defeat. She would hurl herself relentlessly into training if she lost a contest or battle, regardless if it was her fault or Fantina's. She can never simply accept defeat. This has been both a blessing, and an inconvenience for Fantina.

THE POKEMON:
Effroi was originally Fantina's friend's pokemon who dabbled in water types. It was supposed to be a birthday present. Her friend even named it Effroi (Pronounced AY-FWAH), the french word for "Terror". Without thinking anything of the name, they traded. What Fantina didn't know, was that Effroi was going to be an incurable prankster! Effroi enjoyed nothing more than pulling rugs out from under youngsters as they walked into a store. These mishaps and misdeeds almost led Fantina to release her. However, Fantina stuck it out and took very good care of her. Effroi finally saw the light and came through for Fantina. Now, they are incredibly close and spent plenty of time playing jokes on each other. Effroi is so jovial and rambunctious, but always has a keen sense for when the time to play ends.

THE POKEMON:
Fantina came across a female snorunt during one of her many explorations of Hearthome. Fantina found her so adorable, she simply HAD to catch her, regardless of her type. She named it "Arctique", meaning "Arctic" in English. This was due to the extrenuous, icy winds that sieged the snowy plains where Arctique lived. The snowy environment mirrored Arctique's behavior. At first, Arctique shied away from the others, partly due to her being an Ice only type, and also because of her natural lonely personality. In due time, Arctique began to trust Fantina more and more. Especially when participating in contests. The roaring crowds brought warmth to her usually so cold heart. One day, Fantina discovered that female snorunt can evolve into a ghost type froslass! She was so excited, she ran out and bought a dawn stone right away. Arctique evolved, not only into a froslass, but into a more accepting and gentle pokemon.

Boredom can do crazy things to you. This was the kind of day that simply bored you. Dull, gray clouds. A light breeze. One of those horrific days in springtime where if the smothering feeling of the clouds doesn't get you, the heat and humidity will. Fantina walked down the street, bored as could be. Her usually well-kept hair was now sunken, defeated by the humidity. The magenta capris she chose this morning clung to her in an uncomfortable way, as did her pink spaghetti strap tank top. She thought seriously for a moment about anything that could be happening later. Grasping at straws for entertainment. Her errands were finished. She went to the store this morning already to get skim milk, egg beaters, and bread. There was nothing for her to do. The gym was closed for the day, due to no one being there to take the challenge. No one needed her beautiful Relic Badge. She looked at her watch, 5:47 PM. She sighed and thought of her gym. She just couldn't understand why no one was there to challenge her! To be perfectly honest, it irritated her greatly. She shook her head and tried to force the irritating thoughts from her mind. She always got like this in the Spring. Moody, irritable, depressed. It happened to her every year. She thought seriously about taking herself to therapy, but remembered her mother saying to her, "Therapy, ma petite, is a crutch for the weak." Fantina knew that that wasn't the case, and that it truly did offer help, but she couldn't bear to bring herself against her mother. They had always been so close. Ever since her father passed away eight years ago, she realized the necessity of taking care of her mother. Today was a different story. Her mother, Brigitte, was off perusing the town with an old friend from France. Fantina sighed again, more heavily than before and wondered how her mother could have a more active social life than her. She noticed something from the corner of her eye. It was a small wrapper. As if struck by a thunderbolt of inspiration, she suddenly decided to go to the poffin house. Someone should be happy today. And if it was her pokemon, so be it.
