THE POKEMON:
Beldum became Steven’s favorite pokemon at an early age. Because the boy had always been interested in rocks, minerals, and the like, Mr. Stone came home from work one day with a pokemon of particular interest to his child. It was a steel-type pokemon of considerable rarity, one that the man likely only received because of his status within the Devon Corporation. From that day, Steven became interested in not only Beldum, but steel pokemon in general. As time went on and his skills as a trainer increased, he soon set out to look for more of this species, so as to learn more about how they operate within their natural habitat. Over time, Steven captured quite a few of these Beldum, soon finding enough to base his entire team around this evolutionary line. The first four he obtained; one of which was from his father’s generosity and the other three from his own skill, eventually evolved as trainer and partner worked together. The final evolution into Metagross was initiated by the Metang which contained that first Beldum Steven’s father had given him, the partner he had been through so much with. Since then, Metagross’ status as Steven’s most powerful party member has not wavered, and it had served him with complete loyalty and devotion; respecting his will and embracing the friendship he shared with it. | METANGNAME: Metang SPECIES: Metang GENDER: Genderless EGG GROUP: Mineral Group MOVES:- Metal Claw
- Bullet Punch

THE POKEMON:
Along with the four Beldum which constitute Steven’s Metagross, another four of his original team moved onward in the evolutionary cycle, as well. Rather than fully evolving into Metagross, two pairs of Beldum both evolved into Metang at the same time, after years of careful training with Steven. After seeing this, Steven resolved to train the two Metang in different ways, so as to utilize them in different situations to better exploit an enemy’s weakness. The first of his Metang, he trained to be more of a powerhouse in line with its steel type, with moves that accentuate a solid defense and powerful attacks. The second, however, made use of its psychic abilities and superior cognitive ability, focusing instead on speed and mental manipulation of the battle. Although these two Metang do not have nicknames that distinguish one from the other, Steven knows which is which based both on slight differences in how they move and operate when released into battle and on the simple intuition that any trainer develops when they have spent a significant amount of time with their pokemon. | METANGNAME: Metang SPECIES: Metang GENDER: Genderless EGG GROUP: Mineral Group MOVES:- Confusion

There was something to be said for the resiliency of both man and pokemon. Each and every day, it seemed as if there was a new tale of triumph and the small overcoming the great to warm the heart and set the soul at ease. Such things traveled through the grapevine, even to one as secluded as Steven Stone. Thinking on it, he considered it almost comical how these things had a habit of reaching him in spite of even his most valiant efforts. A smile smile crept onto the lips of the silver-haired man as he paused in his search for a moment, thinking back on previous encounters. First and foremost, he thought of his own experiences with the men and women of Hoenn, and the brave trainers that had lent their strength to the cause in their battle against the two groups that sought to ravage nature and the environment as a whole, doing so while spouting some twisted creed of the superiority of sea or land. In all honesty, for all his longing to be away from action and the limelight, Steven could safely say that he could scarcely recollect a moment in which he'd felt more pride in his own accomplishments than when it became clear that the two titans had been soothed, and the clash had finally ended.
Yet even with this still fresh on his mind, he also had to acknowledge battles against several other forces, not only in Hoenn, but throughout the world. The most prominent of these would likely be Team Rocket, whose abuses of pokemon of all varieties could not appear more repugnant to the collector. There were heroes throughout the world that sought to battle against this team, not the most unknown of which were the original trio of pokedex holders that Professor Oak had given his trust to. As he understood it, however, there were also many others who had petitioned for justice in the campaign against Team Rocket, and even the contributions of the unknown and unacknowledged could not simply be ignored. For each new batch of villainy, it seemed as if there were more and more heroes just looking to ride up and have their names carved into the annals of history. From Team Galactic to Team Plasma, no travesty was left unanswered, and Steven could not rightfully contribute any of these victories to his own actions, covert or overt.
And why should he need to? Thinking on it, it had always been his desire to avoid confrontation and merely enjoy his life as a stone-getter. Up until this point, never once had he lingered on his role in any of this, and quite frankly he had done more than his fair share of service to the trainer community. Not only had he been instrumental in the quelling of Kyogre and Groudon, he had also served as Hoenn champion in Wallace's stead for years, accepting challenges and representing the league with pride. Why, then, did this voice in the back of his mind whisper that there was something more to be done? Nearby, his Beldum tirelessly sifted through stone and grime in their search for something of note to present to their master, and even in the middle of his train of thought he could not help but admire their loyalty and commitment to a project that some might deem monotonous, or unnecessary. Such critics could not possibly understand the love he had held for finding treasures deep within the earth; such critics need only look to his father for an example of a man both entranced by the beauty of such things and responsibly advancing his career, and aiding the general population.
Thinking on his father suddenly made him somewhat uncomfortable, as he decided that this musing would take longer than expected, and chose to allow his Beldum a well-deserved rest from their work. Yes, the successful Mr. Stone of the Devon Corporation was certainly a man who mixed duty and pleasure. In spite of his extreme interest in collecting stones, his father had still managed to keep his career flourishing as he fed this interest. Steven glanced to the fruit of their toils; a large patch of disturbed ground that hadn't yielded any interesting findings as of yet. He was familiar with the age-old debate in regards to how best to spend one's life. Was service to the people meant to reign supreme, or did a life of contemplation better give one insight on the world? For years now, he had withdrawn from those around him and fed the fires of his own passion for collecting. Such had always been all he needed, his sustenance. Why, then, did he see something missing within his eyes whenever he happened upon his own reflection? Was it the fire that battle had brought to him, the intensity that adrenaline supplied? No. It seemed to run deeper than that.
As of late, Steven had heard reports of a new evil that sought to dismantle all that the aforementioned heroes had worked for. Though such reports were not entirely clear in regards to the true foe, he had heard tell that it involved the combining of efforts between villainous teams, all striving toward the same goal. Steven's logical side told him that such an alliance was doomed to fail, as such teams typically attracted the selfish and egotistical, and putting aside one's own interests for such a cause would not be a simple thing to do. But still, the side of him that worried for the common citizen could not simply ignore this growing threat. Could that be it? Standing, the man looked to the exit of the cave with a look somewhere between certainty and worry. With the gifts he'd been given, and the skills he'd developed as Hoenn's champion; was the protection of the general populace his true calling? It was difficult to set aside his feelings as something of a rock maniac, but was self-sacrifice merely a part of his duty? After all, what had he lost in the battle against Aqua and Magma, other than easily-regained sleep? While others had lost homes and even loved ones, he had held himself above them, thinking that his mere presence meant he had doing enough for the cause.
Perhaps such an assessment was not entirely fair, but Steven could not put aside the feeling that he still had more to give. So much more could have happened to him, and the prospect of death had lay behind each and every corner. Yet still, as if protected by some divine force, he had come out of the conflict relatively unscathed. Was it for this moment? Noticing his Beldum begin their work once more, he shook his head slightly, making a decision that he knew could form the very core of his life from this day forward.
Save that for later, please. His voice sounded foreign to him, as this had been the first time in hours he'd said a word. ”We have real work to do.” His Beldum obeying their master's command and turning from their work to him, Steven allowed each of them some respite within their individual poke-balls as he turned to walk from this place. He had a duty to the people, and a duty to those he might consider friends. He couldn't bury his head deep within the earth and ignore them. Steven Stone was returning to aid in the conflict, and he knew exactly where he would head first.
